Winter at the early 1948.
Monty Burns is outside, under a flashlight, watching the snowflakes falling.
So cold, like his heart in that moment. As been two weeks since he started to be indifferent, distant and don't even talk to Smithers. He avoiled his closeness, don't listening his worried questions... leaving him cry painfully. He was so harsh with him.
The reason: He married with a woman not so long. Even having their honeymoon.
Burns feels betrayed for the person he love the most. For it he avoid Smithers' presence... even if it hurts.
Now, alone and heartbroken, Monty start to cry silently.
Then, he hear footsteps behind him. He had no time to turn back when he hear a soft and sad voice...
"Monty... you are getting cold..."
Smithers' voice made him chills. His heart beaten as long his tears fall.
"You should not be here...", said Burns trying to hide his tears.
"Why not? Monty... all those days... you get too distant...you know that hurt very much? I am very fond on you, you must know... Then why...?", even if hears calm, Smithers' face is full of sorrow.
"Do not get too worried about me, Waylon", Burns don't understand why he still there. In other days he would leave it quickly... but now his body is not moving. And he don't want to leave...
"I did something that hurts you?", somehow Smithers know the answer. Even if he's now happily married, sometimes he start to cry in secret, regretting it.
Burns don't answer it. Finally he turn back a bit for see Smithers' face. His loving eyes. In that moment... he fall in love once more.
"Forgive me... I do not know what I am doing... Sorry for hurting you... I need you at my side. Would you...?"
Smithers finally smile, then blush a little.
"I forgive you... after all, you're very important to me"
Now is Burns who is blushing even if he don't smile back. But he feel much better.
After all, he can't hate and forget the person he promise to love forever.
